Volunteer team member has equipment stolen from vehicle
NEWSAR is appealing for information after vital equipment used by the team was stolen.
Hours after taking part in this rescue on Moel Famau – https://newsar.org.uk/2015/05/callout-on-moel-famau-140515, volunteer team member Dr Tom Beach had his vehicle broken into outside his home address in Wavertree, L15 and his rucksack and first aid kit, both full of vital lifesaving equipment worth over £1300, stolen.
It is obvious that the red Grivel 45l rucksack, first aid kit and their contents belong to a member of a mountain rescue team. Whilst some of the items are standard things that you will find in a rucksack, such as a climbing harness and head torch, others are clearly labelled with Mountain Rescue livery. This includes a Munro Jacket, Fitzroy jacket and Petzl helmet. The full list of stolen equipment is here:

Until this equipment is replaced, Tom, one of the Doctors on the team, may be unable to attend call outs. This means that casualties, such as the lady Tom assisted on Moel Famau on Thursday, may be put at risk.
We are asking that anyone who has information about the theft or knows the whereabouts of the stolen kit, to contact NEWSAR, Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – quote Crime Number 051509643.
As all team members are volunteers and we receive very little funding from government, unless the kit can be found, we will have to raise the money to replace it. Any one wishing to help us do that can make a donation here – https://newsar.org.uk/fundraising/donation/.
