Volunteer profile – Sue, Supporters Group Member

Name: Sue, NEWSAR Supporter

How long have you been a supporter?

Probably as long as my husband Gerald has been a member of the team, 13 years. There wasn’t a supporters group then but family members can’t help but be involved in some way.

What do you enjoy about volunteering?

Meeting people, working with other supporters and team members and helping out at events. I am also the collection box coordinator.

How do you feel you have made a difference to NEWSAR?

I hope that my input as a supporter reduces the fund raising load on Team Members.

Anything else you want to say?

Two things I have learnt and pass on to family and friends are;

  1. if you have an accident and if you are somewhere where you can’t be carried by a 2 person ambulance crew then do not dial 999 and ask for an ambulance or there might be a delay getting you out, you need to ask for Police and then Mountain Rescue and they will help.

  2. Don’t use What 3 Words for giving a reference for your location, OS locate is a better tool.
