Visit to Rhyl Coastguard
On Thursday night we were very pleased to accept an invitation for team members to visit Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team at their base.
There we were joined by members of the Llandudno and Flint Coastguard Rescue Teams. We discussed the role of the Coastguard and how they work alongside ourselves and SARDA Wales on missing person searches. Two SARDA dogs and their handlers, who are also NEWSAR members, were also there.
We then saw a demonstration of rope rescue techniques and the equipment they use, which was useful to compare to our own systems.
We have returned the invitation and look forward to seeing the Coastguard teams at our base in the near future.
While we were there Rhyl RNLI gave us a look round too…. big boat!
