Search Techniques Course for the region
Over the weekend North East Wales Search and Rescue hosted a regional Search Techniques training course attended by members from Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team, Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team and South Snowdonia Search & Rescue Team. Our team members expertly prepared and delivered this course for the region. Lots of fun was had alongside some great learning. It’s also great to work with other teams to enhance bonds for when we attend larger incidents in support of one another. The course covered the skills needed to effectively search for missing persons in a variety of types of terrain, as well as details of types of missing person behavior (eg despondent vs those living with dementia). There was also an introduction to working with search dogs given by members of Search and Rescue Dogs Association (SARDA Wales). The course participants all gave great feedback and go back to their teams with enhanced skills. NWMRA teams often assist the Police by searching for missing persons in non mountain areas. #somuchmorethanmountains
