Missing person from Rhes-y-cae

An extensive search for a missing elderly lady from Rhes-y-cae sadly ended when the team found a body.  Formal identification has yet to be completed.  Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Joy Worrall.

Report from the Daily Post

A body has been found in the search for a missing pensioner.

Police and members of the North East Wales Search and Rescue Team discovered the body of an elderly woman whilst searching for Joy Worrall.

It has not been disclosed where the body was found.

Teams had been looking for the 81-year-old after she vanished from her home in Rhes y Cae in Flintshire at around 4pm on Wednesday (November 21).

Members of the public also joined the search after police appealed for help from hill walkers and asked residents to check their sheds and gardens for any sign of her.

Ms Worrall’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Chief Inspector Jon Bowcott of North Wales Police said: “It is with great sadness that I am able to confirm that police and members of the North East Wales Search and Rescue team looking for Joy Worrall have found the body of an elderly female.

“Joy’s family have been informed of the discovery and are being supported by officers from North Wales Police.

“I would like to thank all of the officers, staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the last 24 hours.

“I would also like to thank the public for their support in sharing our social media posts and physically searching for Joy.

“Whilst the identity of the deceased is not yet confirmed, we are not conducting further searches at this time, and I would finally ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this difficult time.”
