Helicopter training this week
Not as exciting as this looks at first glance.
Our Wednesday training schedule for 2012 starts off with a refresher for all team members in procedures for working with helicopters, specifically RAF SAR helicopters.
Unfortunately the RAF won’t be paying us a visit, instead we get to watch an interesting video designed to ensure we all remember the basics, which ensures we stay safe around several tons of big yellow helicopter. It also makes sure we don’t endanger the crew and aircraft by our actions.
Each year our new trainees get taken to RAF Valley for a day spent actually working with a helicopter, being winched in and then out again while it hovers a few metres above the ground.
