Award from North Wales Police
In March 2017 all the North Wales Mountain Rescue teams worked together to assist North Wales Police during the search and initial recovery phase following the tragic crash of a helicopter in the Rhinog mountains. The Chief Constable of North Wales Police recently presented an award to the North Wales Mountain Rescue Association(NWMRA) for the important work carried out by all the teams. The photo shows Iain Ashcroft (R), Operations Officer for NWMRA presenting a copy to Chris Griffiths (L) NEWSAR Team Leader. We are very pleased to receive the award but recognise the loss of life of five people and extend our continued condolences to the families affected by this incident.
