Incidents 2022

10/22 – 14/1/22

On Friday night North Wales Police requested our assistance with a missing person enquiry in the Buckley area. Our First Responder provided initial planning and technical assistance and contacted SARDA Wales about the incident.
Shortly afterwards we were informed that the missing person had been located and we stood down.

9/22 – 10/1/22

Our busy spell continues. Later on Monday evening North Wales Police asked us to assist two walkers who had been reported as lost on Moel Famau following a call to a family member.
Unfortunately the missing pair couldn’t be reached by phone call, so a limited callout was instigated to search for their vehicle and then start a search of the expected locations where people sometimes end up. This often involves the forestry roads on the Loggerheads side of the summit, where it is very dark!
Fortunately while all this was happening they turned up back at their car and we stood down.

8/22 – 10/1/22

On Monday evening North Wales Police requested we investigate reports of several stationary flashing lights high on the Clwydian Range.
Our First Responder contacted the member of the public that called the Police, who confirmed that the lights had now moved on. The informant was happy that there did not now appear to be anyone in distress and so the incident was closed.
It’s surprising how many people are up on the hills at night getting exercise, either walking or mountain biking. But if you have a concern for welfare it is always better to make the call and let the Police and ourselves investigate.

7/22 – 8/1/22
Shortly after the previous incident concluded the team was contacted by Dyfed-Powys Police to assist the Wales Air Ambulance at a road traffic collision near Llanfyllin. While the team was mobilising to the location the casualty was extracted with the help of MAWW Fire and Rescue and we stood down.

6/22 – 8/1/22

At midday on Saturday the team was called by North Wales Police to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service with a patient who had sustained a lower leg injury while walking above Meliden. The man was given pain relief, his leg was splinted and he was then carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance.

5/22 – 6/1/22

4/22 – 6/1/22

Missing person enquiry. Ongoing.

3/22 – 3/1/22

On Monday afternoon North Wales Police asked us to assist a woman who had sustained a leg injury on a hill above the Horseshoe Falls near Llangollen.
Team members quickly reached the site and provided pain relief and splinting, before using a rope system to protect the stretcher on the steeper parts of the journey down to the road. The casualty was then conveyed to hospital by private car.
Get well soon!

2/22 – 3/1/22

In the early hours of Monday the team was called by North Wales Police regarding a missing person enquiry near Bodelwyddan. Our First Responder provided some information to the Police to assist with their enquiries. Shortly afterwards the missing person was located by Police Officers and we stood down.

1/22 -1/1/22

Initially at 01:30 then regrouped at 08:00 alongside Coastguard and RNLI. Our First Responder attended to assess the most appropriate action. Fortunately the higher tide allowed the RNLI to recover the item of interest and we stood down.
