Information for prospective Search Support Members
We actively encourage applications from women and men, across all areas of society. The minimum age for membership is 18 years. There is no upper limit, but you must be physically fit enough to carry out the duties associated with Search Support, see the role description below.
If we progress your application you will be invited to an interview and skills test with the Operational Management of the team.
Candidates who are selected from the interview day will be invited to attend their first training session. For around the first four months you will be known as an Aspirant Member and this will give you time to find out whether being a member of the Team is really what you want. It will also give us an opportunity to see how you work within the Team.
If this trial period works out, you will be offered a place as a Trainee Member. The Hill Party members usually train on three Wednesday evenings and one Sunday each month. As an Aspirant/Trainee Search Support member you will be expected to attend a high percentage of the available training sessions, this will allow you to see what the team actually does when it is deployed. You will also get the opportunity to work with the Search Support equipment and software and become familiar with the systems and terminology used. Demonstration of your availability and commitment at this stage is very important. Once the Operational Management believes you have gained the necessary skills you will placed on the callout list. As the team has not recruited before for this type of role it is not known exactly how long it will be before you are placed on the call out list, but it is expected to be not less than four months. Once on the callout list you are expected to continue to attend the majority of training sessions.
A role description and details of the technical skills we require can be found in this document:
