Busy weekend for NEWSAR

NEWSAR Treasure HuntLast weekend was particularly busy for North East Wales Search and Rescue; our volunteers responded to  three call outs and attended a fund raising event in Halkyn.

On the evening of Friday 14th June the team searched all night for missing man in the LLangollen area. Eight team members spent 7 hours working with SARDA Wales and RAF Search and Rescue, before being stood down in the early hours of Saturday morning.

There was already a fund raising event scheduled for Saturday; a treasure hunt at the Blue Bell Inn, Halkyn. This year’s new recruits had worked really hard setting the three courses and were blessed with a dry afternoon that saw navigators of all ages pit themselves against the clues.

During the NEWSAR Treasure Hunt, just before two o’clock, a symphony of text alerts made it clear that the team were needed once more.

At Llandegla Mountain Bike centre a rider had fallen, resulting in a significant lower leg injury. The Welsh Ambulance Service needed assistance locating and evacuating the casualty back to an ambulance.

Six team members collected one of the team’s Land Rovers and met at the main car park and made their way into the forest.

To conclude the weekend, the on duty first responder was contacted by North Wales Police regarding a missing person. Before team members were alerted the missing person was located by the police.
